SURUGEDIN*

Surugedin is a Tagbanua word for assembly. As an assembly, Surugedin focuses on the initiative of 22 Civil Society Organizations within and in the surrounding vicinity of the Protected Area. In our effort of making a difference through responsible tourism, Trio Queen embark into a partnership with the Surugedin members.

During our trips, we make every effort to minimize the negative impacts and maximize the benefits to the local inhabitants and natural environments we visit. We are committed to international sustainable tourism guidelines and have developed tours directly supporting local Palawan communities.

Where possible, we build responsible tourism opportunities into our itineraries, which can assist local communities by providing income and positive cultural exchanges, thereby creating the chance for education and poverty alleviation. We also encourage travelers to take part in tours where they can plant trees, clean rivers, and beaches, practice recycling, observe anti-littering – in this way, guests can contribute to something that they believe in and see the realities of the contributions they are making. They can also meet the locals and interact in a meaningful way.

COMMUNITY-BASED SUSTAINABLE TOURISM

Community-Based Sustainable Tourism Trip is based on the four circuits defined by the City Government of Puerto Princesa. The trip highlights community-based sustainable tourism (CBST) sites that are managed by communities or people’s organizations. These sites enable the local residents to gain income, have substantial management control over these sites, and provide a balance between economic benefits and environmental protection.

Although the emphasis is on these sites, the trip integrated several sites that are related to sustainable tourism or could provide similar interesting features.

Let us support the local communities and people’s organizations of Puerto Princesa City in their quest to uplift their lives!
